Description

A comforting Apple Thyme Jam that combines sweet apples with fresh thyme for a delightful spread perfect for toast or pairing with cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups chopped apples
  • 1/4 cup fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 packet fruit pectin
  • 1/2 cup water
  • A little extra vanilla (optional)
  • Fresh butter (for spreading)

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped apples, sugar, lemon juice, and water in a large pot.
  2. Stir the mixture until the sugar begins to dissolve.
  3. Let it rest for a few minutes to pull juices from the apples.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
  5. Add fresh thyme and pectin once boiling, stirring until well combined.
  6. Continue to boil for about 15-20 minutes, until the jam thickens.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  8. Pour into sterilized jars and seal.
  9. Allow to cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.

Notes

Choose apples that are firm and flavorful. Fresh thyme enhances the flavor, while sugar helps achieve the right texture. Can substitute dried thyme if necessary.
