Description
A delightful holiday dessert combining creamy custard with tart cranberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust based on taste)
- 2 cups heavy cream or whole milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour or cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Fit the pie crust into a pan and prick the bottom with a fork.
- Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any bad berries.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and salt until smooth. Gradually incorporate the cream or milk and vanilla extract.
- Gently fold the cranberries into the custard mixture and pour into the prepared pie crust.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes or until set and lightly golden. A knife inserted should come out clean but may still jiggle slightly.
- Cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour before slicing. Serve warm or chilled, optionally with whipped cream.
Notes
Do not overbeat the eggs and watch the baking time to avoid overcooking.
