Description

A simple and comforting sauce that enhances any meal with fresh flavors of cilantro, garlic, jalapeños, and lime.


Ingredients

  • 1 large bunch fresh cilantro, stems trimmed
  • 3 to 4 garlic cloves, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 to 2 jalapeños, seeded for mild or left with seeds for more heat
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup olive oil
  • Juice of 1 to 2 limes, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons water (if needed to thin the sauce)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare the cilantro and jalapeño. Trim the cilantro stems and roughly chop the leaves and tender stems.
  2. Peel and roughly chop the garlic.
  3. Place the cilantro, chopped jalapeño, garlic, and cumin (if using) into a food processor or blender. Pulse until roughly chopped.
  4. Add the Greek yogurt, lime juice, and olive oil. Blend until smooth and silky.
  5. Season with salt and adjust the heat. Thin with water if needed.
  6. Let the sauce rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a creamier, dairy-free version, swap Greek yogurt for plain cashew cream or coconut yogurt. This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
