Description

  • 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in molasses, scraping down the bowl to ensure even mixing.
  4. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and spices in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix.
  6. If using, fold in chocolate chips gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper to cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

For a festive touch, consider adding cream cheese frosting or a light dusting of powdered sugar on top.
