Description
A delightful way to bring sweetness and sophistication to any meal with perfectly glazed carrots.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound baby carrots (or regular carrots, peeled and sliced into uniform pieces)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or honey/maple syrup)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley) and spices (cinnamon or nutmeg)
Instructions
- Start by washing the carrots thoroughly. If using larger carrots, peel and slice them into uniform pieces, about 1-2 inches long.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the carrots along with just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan, about 1/4 cup. Cover and steam the carrots for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender but not mushy.
- Once the carrots are tender, remove the lid and add the butter and brown sugar. Stir until the butter has melted and the sugar starts to bubble.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and let the mixture bubble for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until the glaze thickens.
- Season with salt and pepper, and if desired, add fresh herbs or spices. Stir well to combine.
- Remove from heat, transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish, and garnish with additional herbs for presentation.
Notes
Ensure proper cutting of carrot pieces for even cooking. Allow the glaze to thicken for the best flavor.
