Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound baby carrots (or regular carrots, peeled and sliced into uniform pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or honey/maple syrup)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley) and spices (cinnamon or nutmeg)

Instructions

  1. Start by washing the carrots thoroughly. If using larger carrots, peel and slice them into uniform pieces, about 1-2 inches long.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the carrots along with just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan, about 1/4 cup. Cover and steam the carrots for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender but not mushy.
  3. Once the carrots are tender, remove the lid and add the butter and brown sugar. Stir until the butter has melted and the sugar starts to bubble.
  4. Increase the heat to medium-high and let the mixture bubble for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally until the glaze thickens.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, and if desired, add fresh herbs or spices. Stir well to combine.
  6. Remove from heat, transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish, and garnish with additional herbs for presentation.

Notes

Ensure proper cutting of carrot pieces for even cooking. Allow the glaze to thicken for the best flavor.
