Ingredients
2–3 fresh organic lemons
2–3 inch piece fresh ginger root
1–2 inch piece fresh turmeric root (or 1/2 tsp turmeric powder)
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
1 small apple (optional, for sweeter version)
Filtered water (if using blender method)
Instructions
1. Wash all produce thoroughly under running water. Scrub ginger and turmeric with vegetable brush.
2. Cut lemons, ginger, turmeric, and apple (if using) into 1-2 inch pieces that fit your juicer.
3. Run all ingredients through juicer and collect juice in glass measuring cup. You should get 8-10 oz.
4. Pour juice through fine mesh strainer for extra smoothness, pressing gently with spoon.
5. Stir in cayenne pepper and turmeric powder (if not using fresh). Mix thoroughly until well combined.
6. Transfer liquid into small 2 oz glass bottles with tight lids. Store in refrigerator up to 3-4 days.
7. Shake well before drinking. Take 1-2 oz shot each morning, 15-30 minutes before breakfast.
Notes
For blender method: Blend all ingredients with 1/4 cup water on high for 60-90 seconds, then strain through nut milk bag or cheesecloth.
Start with 1/8 tsp cayenne if sensitive to spice, gradually increase to 1/4 tsp over time.
