Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, buttermilk, vinegar, and red food coloring, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
- If desired, fold in white chocolate chips or nuts.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Allow the cookie bars to cool before serving, optionally topping with cream cheese frosting.
