Description

A luxurious comfort food dish combining earthy sweet potatoes and tart cranberries in a creamy, cheesy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1½ cups grated cheese (cheddar, Gruyère, or a blend)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (or ½ tsp dried thyme)
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer sweet potato slices, cranberries, and cheese in the dish.
  4. In a bowl, mix cream, milk, garlic, thyme, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Pour over the layers.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 20-25 minutes.
  6. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra texture, consider topping with breadcrumbs or nuts. Allow to cool before slicing for clean cuts.
