  • 1 tsp Parsley For flavoring.

Preparation of Hamburger Steaks

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  • Form the mixture into oval-shaped steaks, roughly 3/4 inch thick.
  • In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Cook the steaks for about 4-5 minutes per side until browned.

Making the Gravy

  • Use the same skillet to sauté sliced onions until translucent and lightly golden.
  • Add a splash of beef broth to deglaze the skillet.
  • Pour in the remaining beef broth and bring it to a simmer.
  • For thicker gravy, mix cornstarch with cold water and stir into the simmering broth.

Assembly and Baking

  • In a baking dish, layer the browned hamburger steaks and pour the onion gravy over the top.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 20-30 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve the hamburger steak bake with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans.
