  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt to balance the sweetness

Preparation

  • Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, then remove from heat.
  • Gently fold in the crisped rice cereal until fully coated.
  • Add any optional mix-ins and gently combine.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan, pressing it down evenly with greased hands or a spatula.
  • Allow to set at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  • Once set, cut into squares or rectangles and decorate as desired.

Notes

To ensure freshness, store in an airtight container. They can last up to a week. If treats become hard, soften them in the microwave in short bursts of 10-15 seconds.
