  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed The riper the bananas, the sweeter the bread.

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Acts as a leavening agent.
  • a pinch salt Enhances sweetness.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Brown sugar can be used for added flavor.
  • 1 piece egg, beaten Provides binding and moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Whole wheat flour can be used for more fiber.

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts For added flavor and texture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  • Mix in the baking soda and salt.
  • Add the sugar and mix until incorporated.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  • Finally, mix in the flour, being careful not to overmix.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Slice and serve!

Notes

For extra moist banana bread, consider adding a teaspoon of yogurt or sour cream. Store wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
