Preparation

Cooking the Beef

  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Drain any excess fat.

Sauté the Onions

  • In the same skillet, add olive oil and sliced onions, sautéing for about 3-5 minutes until translucent and slightly caramelized.
  • Add garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper; stir to combine.

Combine Meat and Onion Mixture

  • Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the onions, mixing them well.
  • Allow everything to cook together for another 2-3 minutes, letting the flavors meld.

Melt the Cheese

  • Preheat your broiler.
  • Evenly distribute the ground beef and onion mixture into the hoagie rolls.
  • Top each filled roll with two slices of provolone cheese.
  • Place the filled sandwiches under the broiler for about 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.

Serving

  • Carefully remove from the oven, allowing them to cool for a minute.
  • Serve hot with optional toppings like sliced jalapeños or bell peppers for an added kick.
