Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground meat (beef, pork, chicken, or turkey) Use ground turkey for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce Homemade is best for nutritional benefits.
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs Whole wheat breadcrumbs can be used.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder for the meatballs.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme Optional for extra flavor.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For frying.

Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients needed.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme (if using). Mix well without overmixing.
  • Scoop out portions of the mixture (about 1 inch in diameter) and roll them into balls. Place on a lined baking sheet for easy transfer.

Cooking

  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the meatballs in a single layer and cook until browned on all sides, about 4-5 minutes, using tongs to turn them.
  • Add the remaining cranberry sauce to the skillet and reduce heat to low. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
  • Stir occasionally to ensure meatballs are coated in sauce.

Serving

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. These meatballs can also be frozen for up to three months.
